CINEMARK TO BUILD ALL NEW STADIUM-SEATED, 12-SCREEN THEATRE IN WILLIAMSBURG
Plano, TX - Cinemark USA, Inc. will build a new 12-screen theatre in Williamsburg, VA as part of the High Street, a new and exciting mixed-use entertainment complex to be built by Lerner Enterprises of Bethesda, Maryland. The new Cinemark 12 will be the first all stadium seated theatre in the city and is scheduled to open in the fall of 2004.
The new state-of-the-art stadium-seated Cinemark Theatre will feature an art-deco design with muted red, gold and bronze, reminiscent of the golden age of Hollywood. In addition, there will be digital sound; plush, high-backed seats in all auditoriums; on-line and advance ticketing; and of course, concession stands providing candy, soft drinks and fresh, hot popcorn.
Customers in Williamsburg will enjoy true stadium-style seating, featuring a sixteen-inch height difference between each row, as well as a 48-inch spacing between each aisle. This will ensure an unobstructed view from a high-back lounging rocker that includes extra padding and cup holder armrests and provides extra leg room between each row, so that patrons may enter or exit without disturbing other guests.
The new theatre will also feature “on-line ticketing,” which allows for advanced ticket purchases on the Internet. This will enable patrons to bypass lines at the box office and go directly to a kiosk in the lobby, where they may either print their paid-in-advance movie tickets or pay via a credit card.
“Cinemark is excited to be building a theatre in Williamsburg,” says Alan Stock, president of Cinemark USA, Inc. “This will be our first theatre there and between the beautiful design, the state-of-the-art projection and sound systems, and Internet ticketing, it will truly be “The Best Seat in Town.”” Cinemark has 52 screens in Virginia with theatres in Norfolk, Lynchburg, Chesapeake and Bristol.
Cinemark expects to break ground in late 2003 with the hopes to open the theatre for business the fall of 2004. Cinemark has 278 theatres and 3,014 screens in 33 states, and internationally, in 13 countries including Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico and Peru.
